Statistical characteristics of measured MIMO wireless channel data and comparison to conventional models

چکیده
This paper presents measured data from a narrowband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel probe in an indoor office/laboratory environment. The system employs ten transmit and ten receive antennas and computes the 10 10 narrowband channel matrix at 2.45 GHz every 80 milliseconds. We use the data to study the statistical behavior of the channel coefficients and the resulting channel capacity. We also demonstrate the ability of a simple statistically based physical model to accurately represent the channel behavior. The results of this model are compared to more conventional models that assume complex normal distributions of the channel matrix elements.

متن کاملModels for MIMO propagation channels: a review
SUMMARY This paper reviews recently published results on multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling. Both nar-rowband and wideband models are considered. We distinguish between two main approaches to MIMO channel modeling, namely, physically based and non-physically based modeling. The non-physical models primarily rely on the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channels obtaine...

Abstract The conventional analytical channel models for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless radio channels are array dependent. In this paper, we present several array independent MIMO channel models that inherit the essence of analytical models. The key idea is to decompose the physical scattering channel into two parts using the manifold decomposition technique: one is the wavefi...
